The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bihi Iman Cige said that the country has made huge economic progress after debt forgiveness and this indicate the results of joint efforts that have been put in place.
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank approved billions of debt forgiveness for the federal government of Somalia after the Horn of Africa nation completed years of financial reforms under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative.
Minister Bihi Iman Cige added that there are many Somalis living in the United States who have achieved great success in the field of business and praised their efforts.
He indicated that the debt relief have facilitated access to critical additional financial resources and economic reforms as the country has improved and strengthen its economy.
The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bihi Iman indicated that he discussed with the heads of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank the reforms and the huge economic progress of the country.
“Somalia, after the debt forgiveness has made huge progress in the economic field, it is really a matter of great happiness, we are working to ensure that greater achievements are made ” said the Minister of Finance Bihi Iman Cige.
He presented Somalia at a recent meeting in the United States and Minister Bihi Iman Cige held special meetings with the various leaders who attended the meeting and discussed the situation in Somalia.
