Somalia: Puntland Police Arrest 3 Suspected armed pirates.

Police in Puntland Regional Government have arrested suspected pirates after tough operations that took over 24 hours in Ra’as Aseir. The Suspected pirates were arrested with a boat carrying fuel and gun.

According to the Puntland forces the suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further investigations into their role and the boat operating in Somalia waters.

The forces presented three men while they announced that four others who were part of the group but escaped from the security forces are on the run according the press release from the Puntland Regional Government Police forces.

General Mohamed Hassan Isse who is the District Commander of Bereeda in Ra’as Aseir area of the Puntland Regional Government told the media that the accused men will be brought to the justice system to face the full force of the law.

The Puntland State Police during the operations informed the residents of the coast to share any relevant information relating to the four fugitives who escaped from the police and are on the run.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by piracy in the waters off the coast of Somalia, despite concerted efforts by the naval forces to combat maritime piracy in the region
